- United Arab Emirates: Sunday, June 22 - 2003 at 09:59
- PRESS RELEASE
In an effort to further bolster their e-commerce activities, more than 80 leading online merchants from across the world have begun to accept cashU Card, the trusted prepaid online payment system, as their preferred mode of payment in their e-transactions.
"With the cashU Card solution and its continuous developments, our customers are now able to buy directly from the 80 merchants and indirectly through the use of virtual credit card number obtained with the cashU account," explained Marwan Ibrahim, Marketing Manager of cashU Card.com (www.cashucard.com). "Our prepaid online payment system has already gained a solid reputation as a hassle-free transaction alternative for online shoppers and we hope to add many more reputed vendors in our vast portfolio."
cashU Card is a novel e-commerce concept introduced by Maktoob.com, the largest and most popular online Arab community with more than 3 million registered users. Launched eight months ago, cashU Card has already grown in popularity with online shoppers in the region who continuously seek flexible and safer ways of buying goods on the Internet without encountering the risks associated with credit cards.
Working on the same principle as prepaid mobile cards, each cashU card has a unique numbering system whose details are fed when the user purchases a product or service. "Our sellers have the unique advantage of using the cashU Card system to accept transactions on their own websites, besides obtaining Maktoob.com's technological support and online marketing of their products among the website's registered members, who number more than 3 million," explained Rami Araj, Distribution Manager of cashU Card.com.
At the same time, cashU Card also announced that it had expanded its distributor network, adding that the cards will now be available throughout the Arab world. Earlier, the cards could be ordered through the cashU Card website (www.cashucard.com) or through the local branches of ARAMEX International. Now, however, the cards are also available through the outlets of Jordan Post and Jordan Telecom in Jordan, Jarir Bookshop in Saudi Arabia, Amazon in Kuwait and many other outlets.
"I am confident that the business community in this region will see the advantages of being part of this exciting development and use the system to reinforce their own existing e-commerce platforms in other markets," Araj pointed out. "The interest from our present network of sellers and merchants has been quite encouraging in this connection."
