For the 1st International Gulf Telecommunications and Information Technology Exhibition and Conference, 'Gulf Telecomp Emirates 2004', scheduled to take place at the brand new Expo Centre Sharjah from February 08-11, 2004, Fairtrade joins forces with Expo Centre Sharjah and the Sharjah Chamber of Commerce and Industry.

Outlines minister Ahmed Humaid Al Tayer in his invitation letter of 14 May 2003: 'The hosting of 'Gulf Telecomp Emirates 2004' comes at a time when the governments and international telecommunication service providers are investing billions of US dollars in the modernization and upgrading of their telcommunications infrastructures. As the Ministry of Communications for the UAE, we are happy to support this important gathering and would like to see 'Gulf Telecomp Emirates 2004' become the region's leading exhibition and conference serving the telecommunications industry.'

This new major event focuses very clearly on the GCC states, targeting a Gulf-wide professional audience from Bahrain, Kuwait, Oman, Qatar, Saudi Arabia and the United Arab Emirates. Aiming at becoming a truly pan-regional telecoms event, top professional delegations are also expected from different countries in the region. Gulf Telecomp is positioning to become the most important international telecommunications event in the region to be held on an annual basis.

Gulf Telecomp Emirates 2004 exhibitors profit from a highly professional organization of the entire event guaranteed by two leading organizers of professional trade shows in the Middle East, Fairtrade and Expo Centre Sharjah, top official support through the local government, one of the fastest growing markets for advanced communication solutions, multimedia and value-added services in fixed line and GSM, GPRS, UMTS, datacom, internet and e-commerce solutions and the UAE's undisputed position as the commercial hub of the Middle East region, and also the prime re-export centre for the adjoining markets of Africa, CIS and the Asian subcontinent.

The organizers Fairtrade have a reputation second to none in the Middle East for consistently achieving strong international and local exhibitor and visitor participation, at all their exhibitions.

The company's unrivalled experience in this field offers the best possible opportunity to initiate business in the area, as well as to establish points of contact with influential representatives from governments and private enterprises from all parts of the Gulf and the Middle East. With Cairo Telecomp, Telecomp Maroc, Alger Telecomp and Iran Telecom, fairtrade already organizes four of the top major telecom exhibitions in the Middle East and North Africa.

A media partnership has already been concluded between Fairtrade and ITP. CommsMEA and Arabian Business have been appointed the official publications of Gulf Telecomp Emirates 2004, both of them being the leading publications for telecommunications (CommsMEA) and business.
