Wataniya ramps up for summer action with new service launch

Wataniya Telecom, the mobile communications market leader in Kuwait, today announced the launch of multimedia content and messaging services that will drive new value for GSM mobile telephone users in Kuwait.

'Action', the advanced multimedia and entertainment lifestyle service, will make new entertainment and information services accessible to over 740,000 Kuwaiti mobile users.

"Wataniya's new Action services will change and enrich the way people communicate on the move," said David Richard Murray, GM & CEO of Wataniya Telecom. "We're offering rich services with global entertainment and content partnerships to bring to our customers the best multimedia entertainment that the mobile communications world has to offer."

Action is an extensive range of dynamic content and entertainment services delivered to the mobile through the latest mobile handset and wireless technologies, available to all Wataniya post paid and pre-paid "Xpress" customers. Between 1st July and 1st October 2003, all customers with GPRS and MMS featured mobiles will be able to access Action with unlimited service for a special trial promotional price of only KD 9. From their mobiles, all Action customers will initially be able to access, send and receive Photo Messaging (also known as MMS), compose and send greeting cards, and access the mobile internet and their email accounts (from Hotmail, MSN and other popular providers).

Wataniya Telecom will follow the launch with the introduction of at least one new service per week over the launch promotional period. New services from a wide range of content providers in the Middle East, Europe and North America will be provided covering screen savers and wall papers, comics, movies and music, horoscopes and the latest in lifestyle trends in fashion, technology and more.

"Action is about lifestyle; it takes the best in new mobile handset capabilities as well as the promise of the latest wireless technology developments and delivers entertaining and informative services designed for the dynamics of Kuwait and our customers," said Mahdi Haider, Director of Sales and Business Development at Wataniya Telecom.

Existing Wataniya Telecom customers using GPRS/MMS enabled handsets will begin to enjoy Action service on 1st of July. Prior to the July 1st live date, customers will be able to subscribe to the service without any connection fees. Mobiles will be configured over the air and without the customer need to visit a Wataniya Telecom customer care center.
