A series of pre-arrival reveals were held in Dubai and Abu Dhabi to enable customers awaiting delivery, and for those who had expressed an interest in the car through the local website, www.xc90uae.com, to sit behind the wheel of the car for the first time.

"The Volvo XC90 has caused a stir in the premium SUV segment on a truly global scale," said Nick Agrotis, Sales and Marketing Manager, Volvo - Trading Enterprises. "Production has increased by half in order to meet the demand around the world, and the reception here in the UAE highlights exactly why this is necessary," he added.

The first consignment of the Volvo XC90 to arrive at Trading Enterprises has sold out, and Trading Enterprises are currently confirming orders against forthcoming arrivals.

"The Volvo XC90 combines the brand's core values such as superior safety and functionality with elements that are essential to many in the UAE - space for seven passengers in the practical form of an SUV with stunning good looks" explained Agrotis.

"We have complemented this with an unlimited mileage three year factory backed warranty and our free Trading Enterprises' 3 years and 60,000km service and maintenance contract, all of which results in a significantly lower cost of ownership", he added.

Since its launch at the Detroit Motor Show in January 2002, the Volvo XC90 has been the recipient of a string of awards, including the Motor Trend 'Sport Utility of the Year' 2003 and 'What Car?' Best 4x4 of the year 2003. Last month, the US Insurance Institute for Highway Safety awarded the Volvo XC90 with top marks for safety in the frontal offset crash test it performed on the SUV.

SUV safety reaches new heights in the Volvo XC90. One of the most unique features of the XC90 is the Roll-over protection system, to guard against roll over accidents which are more likely to occur in SUV's than passenger cars due to the higher centre of gravity.

The XC90's Roll-over Protection System tackles the problem from two directions. While Boron steel, four to five times stronger than normal steel, reinforces vital parts of the roofs structure increasing passenger protection, the Roll Stability Control system, measures the car's roll angle, minimising the risk of rolling over in the first place.
