Almasa Distribution promote Maxtor, a leading hard disk, storage manufacturer in the rapidly developing PC market
- Egypt: Saturday, June 28 - 2003 at 14:00
- PRESS RELEASE
Almasa Distribution, one of the leading network solutions and hardware distribution specialists, today met with over 100 leading enterprise and government decision makers to educate the market on the rapidly increasing PC penetration in Egypt.
Almasa Distribution, part of the Dubai based Almasa Group, is the largest technology distributor in the region and locally in Egypt. Mr Abdul Rachman Safadi, Regional Sales Manager at Almasa Distribution said, "The Egyptian market has huge potential for Almasa. Less than 10% of homes in Egypt - a country with a population of almost 64 million - currently own a PC and demand is rising by the day. The same potential exists in the enterprise and governmental sectors where technology infrastructure is becoming increasingly critical allowing the country to compete in a global marketplace."
Almasa Distribution point to the predictions by Medar Research Group that suggest that Internet penetration in Egypt will reach 6,578,000 by 2005 - as just one indicator for rising demand for quality disk drive storage solutions.
Mr Safadi further explained, "Worldwide we see a 56% penetration of PC shipments outside of the five leading vendors, indicating a high level of locally assembled units. In more developed technology markets, such as the US, according to Gartner Dataquest, this figure was 37.2% in January 2003. Less developed technology markets have a much higher percentage of locally assembled PC's, which could explain why we are seeing an increased demand for disk drive storage products from the home, enterprise and government sectors".
Almasa Distribution has an established office in Cairo and a strong distribution network of computer resellers, assemblers and Value Added Resellers across the country.
