CNBC Arabiya CEO receives AUC fellowship

The American University of Cairo (AUC) and its Sheikh Kamal Adham Centre for Broadcast Journalism held a special ceremony to honour Zafar Siddiqi, Chairman & CEO of CNBC Arabiya as it newest fellow.

The honorary title of "Associate" of the AUC's Adham TV Centre is exclusively given to individuals who have provided moral support to the AUC's broadcast centre, as well as hold positions as active members of the broadcasting community. Mr. Siddiqi, Chairman and CEO of CNBC Arabiya, the first 24-hour economic and financial news channel of the Arab world, is actively involved in promoting and developing broadcasting talent in the region. The ceremony, held at the campus of the AUC, was attended by leading Arab media figures and officials.

One of the centre's earliest Associates and still active in broadcasting is Ted Turner, founder of Turner Broadcasting and CNN, leading philanthropist and now vice president of Time-Warner. The Adham Centre's director is veteran TV journalist Abdallah Schleifer, who together with Senior Associate Dr. Hussein Amin publishes the centre's electronic journal, Trans-national Broadcasting Studies (TBSjournal.com).
