Emarat implements innovative management tool to measure business performance

Emarat has signed on Cedar Consulting Services - a leading strategy and IT consultant - to implement an innovative management tool - Balanced Scorecard - to assist the Corporation in measuring its performance across various segments of its business.

Through the Balanced Scorecard, Emarat will evaluate its performance across four major spheres - financial, customer service, internal business processes and learning and growth.

The Balanced Scorecard is a management tool developed by Dr. David Norton and Prof. Robert Kaplan of Harvard Business School, to help an organization translate its mission and strategy into a comprehensive set of performance measures that provides a framework for a strategic measurement and management system.

Explained Rashid Al Shamsi, General Manager, Emarat at the signing ceremony: "In an age of intense competition, fast-changing technologies and market preferences, Emarat will not only use the Balanced Scorecard to measure performances, but also to link strategic objectives to budgets and to identify key initiatives. The over-riding aim is to constantly improve on our own benchmarks, set higher goals to deliver the best products and services to our customer, while at the same time enhancing our own performance within the organization."

The Balanced Scorecard will be initially implemented at the corporate level before gradually cascading the use of the tool across the Corporation's various department levels.
