Mashreqbank Summer Learnings programme 2003 kicks off

Mashreqbank is launching its popular Summer Learnings programme on 19 July. The programme is aimed at familiarise UAE Nationals aged between 16 and 19 with a variety of career opportunities available in the UAE.

On its sixth year, the two-weeks programme includes visits to leading organisations in both the public and private sectors, tours of facilities and talks by managers, professionals and line staff to give the students greater insight into their vocational alternatives.

"Summer Learnings Programme focuses on helping students decide the type of career which would most suit them before selecting their further education courses. This programme is tailored to increase the student's awareness of how different industries operate," said Abdul Aziz Al Ghurair, CEO of Mashreqbank. "I would like to take the opportunity to thank all our partners who have joined hands with us and helped us in making this programme such a great success," concluded Mr. Al Ghurair.

Students can apply from 29 June by filling in the application forms published as advertisements or by phoning Mashreqbank on 04 7066655. The closing date to receive applications is 14 July 2003.

Groups of up to 20 students will each take part in an on-site and behind the scenes tours of key industries in the UAE. Participating organisations include Emaar, Emirates Post, Jebal Ali Free Zone, Jumeirah International, Dubai Immigration, Dubai Police, Dubai Civil Aviation, Masterfoods, Al Khaleej, Al Khaleeji Radio Station, Mindscape, Partnership, Saatchi & Saatchi, Welcare Hospital and Zaabeel Stables.

On completion of the programme each student receives a certificate of participation.

The Summer Learnings programme forms one part of Mashreqbank's commitment to Emiratisation. Other such initiatives include Mashreq Al Tumooh, the sponsorship of National high-school graduates in a management training course, and a fast-track graduate training programme for university graduates called Mashreq Al Emarati.
