- PRESS RELEASE
A fabulous opening show tomorrow at the Airport Expo- West Hall will officially mark the progress of DSS into its third theme, Colour Surprises.
Dr. Salah Abdul Aziz Al Qassim, Chairman of the Colour Surprises Committee, DoHMS, and Dubai Summer Surprises 2003 Committee Member announced the exciting line-up of activities as part of the Colour Surprises theme week running from July 3rd to 9th. "The numerous correlations between colours and general life have enabled us to encompass diverse events and activities that are suitable for all. We have focused on qualitative events that can be enjoyed by the entire family. The fun and entertainment will be introduced in a format that will also encourage learning, in keeping with the aim of the festival", said Dr. Al Qassim.
The opening show will be in the form of a story about the Light & Bright Colours, such as Red, Yellow, Orange, and the Dark Colours, like Black, Blue and Brown. The different colours speak about their differences and similarities. The story is performed by children belonging to different nations, alongside characters like dragons and virtual creations. The story begins in a dark setting, gradually getting lighter and brighter to a feel-good, happy ending.
Combining the best of creativity and technology, this show will feature virtual reality, dry ice, fog and pyrotechnics, supporting the theatrics, which is a mix of a musical and dance show. This variety theatre aims at providing impressive entertainment as well as education on the relations of colours to us, to things around us and among themselves. The technology and natural skills have been seamlessly combined to produce an amazing example of a stage show.
The theme week will consist of many activities that maintain colours as their focus. Focuses on a particular colour will bring out the most common associations to that colour, especially those around us. For instance, in Dubai, the colour Yellow would bring images of the sun and the desert; Blue would make you picture the ocean and so on. Festivals of colours from different parts of the world will be highlighted, like 'Holi' from India. With many events, workshops, and other activities slated to be held all over the city, in malls as well as in Modhesh Fun City, this week is sure to provide endless options for people of all ages.
