meBANK offers a world of cards
- United Arab Emirates: Saturday, July 05 - 2003 at 09:14
- PRESS RELEASE
A meCARD credit card for international travellers that avoids the inevitable foreign exchange losses has been launched by meBANK.
For example, a cardholder travelling to the UK with a meCARD credit card in Pounds Sterling can use his card for transactions in that country - so he gets billed in the same currency (GBP).
Louis Scotto, General Manager Retail Banking - Emirates Bank International said, "With our meCARD foreign currency cards, the saving is made immediately at the point of transaction. If the customer carried an AED card, his statement will show GBP transactions in AED, which would have actually been converted from GBP to USD to AED. Hence, the customer straight away saves on the foreign exchange."
After being billed in the same currency as the region he was travelling to, customer can settle the credit card dues in the same foreign currency (GBP bills can be settled in GBP), and he therefore saves on foreign currency exchange again.
Foreign currency meCARDS also carry the same features and benefits as AED meCARDS, namely no annual fees for the first year, 0% introductory APR for the first three months in addition to the lowest interest rates in town.
Available in MasterCard Silver and Gold, foreign currency meCARDS are the ideal accessories for business travellers and for people receiving their salaries in foreign currencies.
Scotto added, "The UAE is home to some of the most frequent travellers in the world, and these travellers are increasingly demanding the avoidance of foreign exchange loss. With foreign currency meCARDS, business people and leisure travellers can avoid these losses twice, both at the time of transaction and at the time of settling their statement bills. The summer is also the time for travelling - so travellers should apply now to get a meCARD in their chosen currency in time for their holidays."
