Dubai Municipality to shortly issue new highways signage tender
- United Arab Emirates: Wednesday, January 23 - 2002 at 08:56
- PRESS RELEASE
Dubai Municipality will shortly release a public tender for 250 new 3 x 5 outdoor signage positions along the emirate's highways.
Al Noori added that moves to further regulate the signage industry are now on the anvil.
"We are currently reviewing Law No: 30, which was first implemented in 1986, and which regulates the signage industry, to cover new industry advances and technologies," said Al Noori. "We are also in the final stages of formulating the Emirates Sign Association, which will be a Federal body made up of industry leaders. We shall shortly be seeking ministerial approval for the body."
Al Noori said demand for signage throughout Dubai grew by 30% last year and the Municipality is anticipating further growth in 2002.
Sign & Graphic Imaging Middle East, which runs at the DWTC until Thursday night, is the largest in the series with exhibitors from 25 countries spanning two exhibition halls.
The show, organised by Dubai's International Expo-Consults (IEC), was officially opened by H.E. AbdulRahaman Al Mutaiwee, Director General, Dubai Chamber of Commerce and Industry.
Al Mutaiwee spoke of high advertising demand throughout the emirate being spurred by the introduction of new signage technology.
"Locally the advertising and signage sector is booming, which is evidenced by the increase in contracted floor space at this annual show. The sector has an extremely bright future as it is a key marketing component for every other economic segment," he said.
