Novotel World Trade Centre Hotel, Dubai - staff trained in latest information technology

  • United Arab Emirates: Wednesday, July 09 - 2003 at 15:07
  • PRESS RELEASE

Pre-opening team members at the new Novotel World Trade Centre Hotel are currently implementing the latest IT systems designed to ensure quality of service and guest satisfaction.

Staff will use 3 IT systems, specific to the hospitality industry. Property Management System (PMS), Fidelio, aims to maximize the efficiency and effectiveness of Novotel's service by unifying sales, reservations and front desk activities in one package. This in-house database allows staff immediate access to guest information, room availability and rate specifications. Bookings made via the Internet and through agencies worldwide reach Fidelio via a Global Distribution System (GDS), comprising different packages such as Galilleo and Amadeus.

Working in tandem, but not at present interfaced with the above, is the Accor Group's Central Reservation Systems (CRS), TARS. This versatile system enables reservations staff to book holidays for guests at any other Accor group hotel throughout the world. At the new Novotel preparations are being made for TARS installation and staff training soon after opening in mid August.

In keeping with its Gallic roots, French company Optims runs the Novotel's Yield Management System (YMS). Uniquely designed to forecast room occupancy and availability in a cluster, Optims package "City Optims" will take into account sales strategies at both the Novotel and Ibis, helping to streamline group and corporate bookings for their guests.

Accor's Human Resources Director, Jorg Meyer said, "I am sure that staff will find this tailor-made technology easy to use and effective in maintaining the standards expected by our guests. In our training we have made a real effort to emphasize the importance of IT in running a quality hotel and it's necessity for our guests as a business tool."

Visitors to the Novotel can expect to have the latest technology at their fingertips, with Internet access in every room and Interactive TV, enabling them to check e-mails, chat online and access their bills. The Business Centre provides a wide variety of services, including 8 full-equipped high-tech conference rooms, each with video conferencing.
