The British Airways e-ticket service will be launched in Bahrain, Qatar and Dammam followed by other Middle East markets later this year.

Offering ease, speed and flexibility, electronic ticketing (e-ticket) is a paperless ticketing system. Passengers can make their booking and pay for it in the usual way at the British Airways Travel Shop and will receive a receipt rather than the usual paper ticket. The receipt will contain a summary of the passengers' entire journey - this information is also securely stored on the British Airways database.

A single e-ticket will be issued for up four sectors of travel including North Atlantic sectors, eliminating numerous flight coupons that are required with paper tickets. With an e-ticket you can also make alterations to your itinerary up to 30 minutes before your minimum check-in time, subject to the normal fare restrictions.

Commenting on the launch Harvey Lines, British Airways Area Commercial Manager - Northern Gulf said "Electronic ticketing is rapidly becoming the new standard in air travel convenience and is an enhancement to the service British Airways provides its customers in Bahrain, Qatar and Dammam.

"We are pleased to be the first airline in the region to offer this service to our customers and look forward to rolling this out across the Middle East" added Harvey Lines.

On presenting the receipt and suitable ID at the airport check-in desk, passengers will be provided with their boarding card. Check-in, security, and customs procedures for international travel using an electronic ticket are the same as current procedures for passengers with paper tickets.

British Airways e-ticket is available currently in over 142 destinations across the world.
