Raytheon Missile Systems president addresses international education conference

Raytheon Company's (NYSE: RTN) Missile Systems President Dr. Taylor W. Lawrence delivered the opening address on the third day of the Education Without Borders conference in Dubai. The biennial international student conference creates networks across cultures to find solutions to some of the world's greatest problems.

"Raytheon is deeply committed to inspiring the next generation of engineers, scientists and technologists," said Lawrence.

"I have no doubt some of the students attending this conference will help solve many of our planet's greatest challenges."

Speaking to more than 900 students at Dubai Men's College, Lawrence described how breakthroughs in the aerospace industry have led to widely used products such as microwave ovens and cellular phones.

He encouraged the students to stay focused, work hard and follow their dreams.
"Raytheon believes tomorrow's engineers and technologists need to be excited by and interested in math today," said Lawrence.

"We developed the MathMovesU program to help spur interest in math and science. Since its inception in 2005, Raytheon's MathMovesU program has touched the lives of more than 1 million students, teachers and parents."

This year's Education Without Borders conference attracted nearly 1,000 students from more than 120 countries.
