Piling work starts at Jumeirah Beach Residence

Piling work in the first two sectors of the 22.5 million square feet Jumeirah Beach Residence project has begun, according to Hashim Al Dabal, Chief Executive of Estithmar Realty, which is developing the project.

He pointed out that piling work contract for two other sectors has been awarded and the contractors have begun to mobilise equipment to start work.

The whole project is on schedule to be ready by 2005 as per the original business plan.

Al Dabal said the work of readying the site has been completed. Some 450,000 cubic metres of sand have been removed from the site to prepare it for piling and foundation works.

He pointed out that before starting the work, utility services that existed on site were identified and diverted as necessary as also to serve the project. This included sewer, storm water, water pipes, electricity cables and telephone lines.

Al Dabal said the project would have 40 residential towers in response to the great demand from customers, which has a higher than was originally expected.

He pointed out that the progress of the work is going according to plan. Delivering ambitious developments within tight timelines is not new to the team of young nationals who have a successful track record of delivering such landmark projects as the Dubai Internet City and the Dubai Media City.

Jumeirah Beach Residence comprises a series of high buildings situated in a beachfront environment. It will include a wide range of facilities and services to make it like a self-contained mini-city. Besides, the project is located in an area that is the new corporate hub and is very active centre of business with thousands of companies located in nearby Dubai Internet City, Dubai Media City, Jebel Ali Free Zone and Sheikh Zayed Road.
