Sheikh Hamdan Bin Rashid inaugurates eleventh edition of Dubai Derma Conference and Exhibition

His Highness Sheikh Hamdan Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Deputy Ruler of Dubai, Minister of Finance, and President of the Dubai Health Authority inaugurated today the eleventh edition of the Dubai World Dermatology and Laser Conference and Exhibition (Dubai Derma) at the Dubai International Convention and Exhibition Centre.
Following the traditional ribbon-cutting ceremony, H.H. Sheikh Hamdan Bin Rashid attended the opening ceremony which was marked by the attendance of world-renowned speakers. H.H. then took a tour at the exhibition where he expressed his delight by the annual growth and development that Dubai Derma achieves every year. H.H. also emphasised that Dubai Derma has become one of the largest and most advanced conferences focusing on skin care, and attracts the most specialised doctors from all over the world to participate in this outstanding conference.
This year, Index Conferences and Exhibitions Organisation Est. - member of Index Holding celebrates the eleventh anniversary of Dubai Derma which is the most prominent event in the MENA Region that focuses on skin health and the latest developments and up to date methods of treatment for different skin diseases, in addition to plastic surgeries.
The Dubai Derma scientific program will discuss skin tightening, body contouring and the latest in cosmetic dermatology and more, through a scientific conference program and multiple cutting edge workshops. Dubai Derma is devoted to Dermatology, Skin Care, and Skin Lasers & Anti aging under the motto: "Skin Health is our Concern".
H.E. Qadhi Saeed Al Murooshid, Director General of the Dubai Health Authority said in a speech delivered during the opening ceremony; "the continuous success achieved by Dubai Derma Conference and Exhibition over the past eleven years reflects the prestigious status of the conference as a unique platform for doctors and specialists in the field of dermatology. And perhaps the increasing number of participants that Derma records every year is an indication of the international prominent reputation of the emirate of Dubai as a regional hub for international companies to promote their products from Dubai to the region."
H.E. also said "the Dubai Health Authority has always been keen to address dermatology and skin health matters. We are following the vision of the leaders of this country and we are striving to provide a comprehensive and high quality healthcare services which covers all curative and prevention aspects." H.E. submitted his gratitude to the organising committee for their distinguished efforts towards the success of this comprehensive scientific event.
In another context, the Dubai Health Authority had initiated a specialized medical centre for dermatology and plastic surgeries earlier. The centre is fully equipped with the latest medical equipments and qualified medical cadre to provide the local community with the best medical services.
From his side, Mr. Abdul Salam Al Madani, President of Index Holding and Executive Chairman of Dubai Derma assured that the Dubai Derma Conference and Exhibition has marked itself in the region and the Middle East as one of the major annual medical events. He also declared that Dubai Derma is designed for world's key dermatologists to benefit from the workshops and the scientific courses held within the conference. He also stated that there are 300 exhibitors from 50 countries exhibiting at the Dubai Derma this year. Al Madani is expecting that the number of participants and trade visitors to reach more than 5,000 at the end of the event.
Mr. Al Madani also said that Dubai Derma conference and exhibition is an outstanding opportunity for dermatologists and students of dermatology to participate in the different scientific activities that are held during the three days event. This year, the Dubai Derma is also hosting the 12th Pan Arab League of Dermatology Conference. Members of the Pan Arab League of Dermatology Conference who come from different Arab skin associations have a vision to highlight and discuss different skin diseases and surgeries. They also encourage communication between the scientific societies in the Arab countries in order to improve the dermatology specialty from the practical and the scientific approach. In addition, the conference will activate the role of the conferences held by the Arab Skin Association in the Arab world.
H.E. Dr. Omar Al Sheikh, Secretary General of the Pan Arab League of Dermatology said during the opening ceremony "this is an excellent opportunity for all academics and specialists of dermatology and skin care to know the updates in this profession. They can also submit their researches and scientific studies and learn from the scientists and the academics that are coming from different parts of the Arab world.
H.E. also stressed on the importance of the scientific research which leads to the progress and prosperity of the community and the nation in general. H.E. also submitted his gratitude to the organizing committee and the supporters for hosting this prestigious event in Dubai.
Dr. Ibrahim Galadari, Professor of Dermatology at the UAE University and Chairman of Dubai Derma Conference welcomed all of the speakers and specialists who came from all over the world to participate in the Dubai Derma 2011. He also announced that for this edition, there are more than 80 prestigious speakers from 50 countries mainly from the United States, Europe, and the Middle East whom are professors and doctors of all fields of dermatology.
Dr. Galadari provided a preview of the scientific program that will be running during the first day, which consists of three sessions covering different topics such as; the progress in Heritable Blistering Diseases Towards Molecular Therapy, Clinical Features and Pathomehanics of Fibrotic Fibers in the Skin, Development of Novel Treatments for Skin Ageing, Pathogenesis and Treatment of Autoimmune Bullous Disease, Fillers, Neurotoxin, Fat Grafting, Follicular Stem Cells in Alopecia Areata, in addition to a dedicated session to educate patients on how to apply a sufficient amount of sunscreen.
A number of workshops on cutting-edge technologies will take place during the three days of the event, where experts in Fillers and Mesotherapy will discuss and share their experiences. Participants in the conference and the workshops will receive a total number of 22 credit hours accredited by the UAE University for their participation.
