Compact in size and elegant in design, the MV6i MC is packed with features including three distinct recording modes - Digital Video, Motion-JPEG (MJPEG) video clips to send via email and Digital Photo for XGA resolution digital still images. The MV6i MC's combined features and ultra-portable size and weight make it the ideal companion for home, travel and business use.

"The MV6i MC offers an ideal combination of high quality DV recording, Motion-JPEG video clips and high resolution XGA still images in a compact and great looking design," said Michel Sabbagh, Marketing Manager of Canon Middle East. "With the addition of Canon's exclusive and newly-developed DIGIC DV image processor, the result is a stylish digital video camera that delivers outstanding images."

New Features
The MV6i MC is one of Canon's smallest and most portable digital video cameras, containing many more features than its predecessor, including Canon's exclusive DIGIC DV technology. Canon designed this specific processor entirely dedicated to photography, making possible accurate colour for both video and digital photos. The MV6i MC has been designed to print directly to compatible Canon Bubble Jet photo printers, as well as Canon Card photo printers such as the CP-10, CP-100, CP-200 and CP-300, eliminating the need for a PC and untidy cables. By using a camera USB download cable, professional photo quality prints can be printed instantaneously.

Additionally, the MV6i MC supports Exif Print1 (also known as Exif 2.2), an industry standard that improves the way digital cameras work with printers, allowing users to achieve higher quality photo output.

The inclusion of DV Messenger software allows the use of the MV6i MC as a sophisticated peer-to-peer webcam with Microsoft Windows Messenger through IEEE1394. DV Messenger also allows users to control a remote Canon DV camera and transfer files such as still images between local and remote Canon DV cameras.

Another great new feature of the MV6i MC is the inclusion of Super Night Mode, a function which can produce high-quality video recordings in virtual darkness, down to 0 lux. When the camera is operated in this mode, a white LED assist lamp provides additional illumination.

Versatility
Three Recording Modes
Digital Video Mode
The Canon MV6i MC captures up to two hours of high-quality digital video with digital stereo sound when using an 80-minute MiniDV tape.

Motion-JPEG Mode
Users can record short video clips such as birthday greetings, business reminders and holiday wishes to send via email. Clips are stored on an SD or MMC memory card and length options include 10 seconds at 320 x 240 resolution or 30 seconds at 160 x 120 resolution.

Digital Photo Mode
A built-in memory card slot accepts either a Secure Digital (SD) or Multimedia (MMC) card for recording digital photos. Selectable picture-quality modes include XGA (1024 x 768) and VGA (640 x 480) resolution in standard, fine and super-fine compression modes making it possible for users to choose the image quality that best suits their needs. Digital photos can also be recorded to the MiniDV tape where each image is recorded for approximately six seconds with digital stereo audio for your verbal notes or narration.

Technology
Imaging Technologies
The 10x optical zoom lens enhances the image quality of video and digital photos by utilising a double-sided aspherical element and lens multicoating to reduce both distortion and flare. The 400x digital zoom brings even the most distant subject up-close. The camera's advanced Image Stabilizer instantly compensates for unwanted camera movement, providing smooth and steady video, even at the full telephoto zoom setting.

Image Control and Special Effects
The MV6i MC will satisfy any user, from the most experienced video maker, to the beginner. Beyond being fully automatic for point and shoot simplicity, the camera has a wide assortment of manual controls including focus, exposure lock, white balance and shutter speed control. The Auto Exposure (AE) Shift feature lets the user adjust the automatic exposure levels.

While the Auto mode is fine for most shooting situations, the camera includes a variety of pre-programmed auto exposure modes, each carefully designed to deliver the best results under special shooting conditions.

A variety of special effects make it easy to exercise creativity and change the look of the video image. Special effects include Art, Black & White, Sepia, Mosaic, Ball, Cube, Wave, Colour Mask or Mirror. Fade effects, which create unique scene transitions, include Wipe, Corner, Jump, Flip, Puzzle, Zig Zag, Beam, Tide, Fade Trigger and standard Black.

Software
The MV6i MC comes with a comprehensive Canon DV software bundle, including:
Canon ZoomBrowser EX
Canon PhotoRecord
ImageBrowser
Canon PhotoStitch
DV Messenger
VideoPresenter 2.0
