Tech Data smashes performance barriers with summer promotion

Tech Data FZ-LLC, the Middle East's leading provider of IT products and logistics management and value added services, has marked the mid-point of its Around the World in 60 Days summer promotion campaign with confirmation that the campaign has beaten the across-the-board summer slump in the regional IT industry with a stunning 30 percent sales gain.
Star performers during the campaign include communications equipment vendor US Robotics, which has posted quarter on quarter growth of over 150%, while strong sales growth for HP, Cisco, Symantec, APC and Microsoft have shown that the campaign has delivered real benefits among the big name brands, with many showing month on month growth at rates of 40% and above.
The promotion focuses on both incentivising the reseller channel and providing direct to end user promotional benefits and aims to beat a slump in regional technology sales of some 18% across the board. With year on year sales growth of above 30% in June against June 2002, Tech Data is also predicting similar growth in July - which would result in a record summer performance for the Middle East technology industry.

"Our original aim was to take that summer sales drop down to single digits this year," said Tech Data marketing director Eliot Shepherd. "We've already exceeded that aim by far and there's strong growth in the channel still."
The summer slump trend has lessened in recent years as a result of more sophisticated marketing and more level year-round user demand according to Tech Data's analysis. The Around the World in 60 Days program aims to help the IT reseller channel overcome summer sales drops by generating more sales and building on their bottom lines. The program is designed to deliver cost advantages in the form of sales and product promotions, as well as marketing support to the channel in the form of end-user marketing efforts.
To continue building the campaign momentum among the reseller channel, Around the world in 60 days rewards channel performers and Tech Data staff on a weekly basis through a variety of prizes. The campaign ends with a grand prize to the highest achiever in the form of travel vouchers which will take the recipient around the world.
