Acer Computer (M.E.) Ltd today announced it has been awarded Hall of Fame status by Reader's Digest, which builds further on the company's impressive performance in the past year. The inclusion into the Hall of Fame is extended only to companies that have a strong image and meet customer needs as well as offering quality and value.

"Although many thousands of brands are voted for each year, only the top few achieve SuperBrand status," said Peter Jeffery, associate publisher of Reader's Digest Asia. "Less than 10 per cent of the total number of SuperBrand winners over these five years qualified for the Hall of Fame, so this really does represent the elite of the elite."

The Hall of Fame honors brands that have maintained top levels of brand awareness amongst consumers according to research by carried out for the Reader's Digest SuperBrand program.
Companies are awarded SuperBrand status after evaluation by an independent jury of experts, each of whom is selected on the basis of his or her expertise and knowledge of particular markets and sectors.

Only brands that score high marks with the jury qualify for the prestigious SuperBrand status. The inclusion to the Hall of Fame follows the announcement in April that Acer was a Gold SuperBrand winner, for the fifth consecutive year, in the computer category.

"Being selected for the Hall of Fame demonstrates to consumers that Acer offers the highest levels of service and technology," said Krishna Murthy, general manager, Acer Computer (M.E.) Ltd. "At Acer we work hard to ensure that our customers receive brand experiences of the highest quality. To see our hard work rewarded in this way is very satisfying."

The inclusion in the Hall of fame reinforces Acer's ongoing success in the Middle East, where it has built one of the strongest and most-widely recognized technology brands in the market. According to IDC, Acer grew by more than 27 per cent in 2002, rising to number two for market share in the notebook sector and number four in the overall ranking in Europe, the Middle East and Africa.

"Acer has a heritage of caring through innovation, and for putting customer needs first," said T.Y. Lay, President of International Operations Business Group, Acer Inc. "The honor symbolizes consumer's seal of approval for the Acer brand in the long term."
