Sony introduces its new Ultra-Compact LCD Projector

The VPL-EX1's low cost, high performance makes it the first choice for entry-level XGA display.

The VPL-EX1 allows the user to do just that and concentrate on the audience, with a number of new built-in sophisticated functions that can be initiated automatically once the projector is simply switched on.

The intelligent auto-setup functions are numerous and user-friendly at the same time. Firstly there is the powered lens protector which opens automatically, eliminating the need to spend time looking for a missing lens cover and a powered tilt adjuster which sets the shooting angle and keystone distortion is automatically corrected according to the tilt angle. This is a very useful function as any presentations will be displayed correctly. All settings can be saved in memory and recalled.

There is also the Smart APA (Auto Pixel Alignment) function which ensures that the display size is always optimized with no need to adjust the projector or your PC. The VPL-EX1 automatically detects an input signal and projects the images instantly, eliminating the need for any manual selection of input signals.

The compact size (about the size of a hardback novel) and weight of only 2.7kg does not compromise on picture quality or brightness synonymous with the Sony name. With Sony super high aperture 0.7-inch LCD panels, the combination of the original optical system and 165W UHP lamp enables the VPL-EX1 to achieve the high brightness within a compact body. With Sony there is no need to switch off the light during presentations!

Additional useful features include a freeze-frame function, which allows the user to switch between slides on his or her PC, whilst the audience sees only one slide. The VPL-EX1 has also been designed to accommodate a demand for extra security and is provided with an optional security password function and anti-theft ceiling mount kit PSS-AT1. The VPL-EX1 will retail at US$ 2300 and comes with a 3 year warranty.
