Sahara Centre signs up the THE One Total Home Experience

Sahara Centre, the UAE's premier shopping and entertainment centre, which is scheduled to open next month (February 20), has signed up the home department furniture store, THE One to open its first outlet in Sharjah.

With 11,206 square feet, anchor store THE One offers shoppers a unique and exciting approach to furniture retailing, while its signature Café and Restaurant will be located next to the showroom enticing customers with gourmet food and traditional home bakery.

"We're delighted to announce our partnership with THE One, a unique home concept store for the region, and we're looking forward to a mutually beneficial relationship," said Raymond J. Casey, Managing Director, Sahara Centre.

Combining THE One's innovative approach to logistics with contemporary style and showroom design, the store's varied products are designed to complement a wide range of customers' budgets without high mark-ups.

Thomas Lundgren, Managing Director, THE One said: "We are very pleased to be opening in Sahara Centre - we have been studying the Sharjah market for some time now, and we know this is the ideal location for us."

"We will also be opening our famous THE One Café in the centre, next to the showroom, so we will be able to offer all our Sharjah customers a truly Total Home Experience."

Sahara Centre, which, comprises approximately 500,000 square feet of retail space, with over 90 per cent already leased, will also introduce several premier local, regional and international retail brands for the first time in the region.

"With a strategic location at the entrance to Sharjah and between the two large consumer markets of Sharjah and Dubai, its strong tenant mix and pleasing retail and leisure environment, Sahara Centre, we are confident, will emerge as one of the premier shopping destinations in the UAE," added Casey.

Conceived in 1994, THE One operates four outlets in Dubai, Abu Dhabi and Riyadh, with new store openings planned for Riyadh, Jeddah, Kuwait and Doha.

Set to open on February 20, 2002, the Sahara Centre project is owned jointly by Mr. Abdulrahman Bukhatir and Mr. Saeed Ghobash. Being built at a cost of Dhs. 400 million in the fast-growing Al Nahda district of Sharjah, the total built-out area of the mall will be 1 million square feet, making it the largest shopping mall in the emirate of Sharjah.
