Mr. Ibrahim Belselah, General Coordinator of Dubai 2003, issued the call during a presentation to the American Business Group in Abu Dhabi.

"I would encourage you all to ensure that you and your companies maximise the benefits of the Annual Meetings," Belselah told the more than 60 industry leaders, seven Ambassadors and a similar number of commercial consuls gathered for the business council's lunch meeting.

"There are enormous networking opportunities to be had through the Programme of Seminars organised by the World Bank and IMF and through other business events surrounding the Annual Meetings.

"Our goal is to ensure strong participation from the private and the public sector in the UAE and from across the Arab world," Belselah said.

He also made a presentation during the highly interactive session and was delighted at the response from this international audience.

"It is heartening to find that there is so much interest in the forthcoming Annual Meetings," he added.

The Annual Meetings of the Boards of Governors of the World Bank Group and the International Monetary Fund were first held in Washington DC in 1946. They are hosted by an international city one year in three. The UAE and Dubai were selected because of their highly developed transportation and logistics infrastructure, growing importance as a financial hub and its established position as an oasis of opportunity.
