Hyperlink, which has implemented several such projects for clients in the Middle East, will be implementing Oracle e-Business Suite to automate the financials, distribution, manufacturing, maintenance and human resources of DRC.

"The modern trend of running businesses entirely through the Web is providing an added competitive edge to companies that have adopted advanced and leading edge applications," said Mr.Alan Salem, General Manager, Dubai Refreshments. "As the bottler for Pepsi, Dubai Refreshments has faced major challenges in the area of swift access to reliable information. There was a critical need to integrate every area of the company's operations using web-based systems, to help make informed decisions based on shared information across the enterprise."

"DRC required a technology integrator who had both the expertise to carry out such a project and also relevant knowledge of our line of business. Hyperlink's credentials were perfectly suited to our requirements," added G.V.Rao, IT Manager, Dubai Refreshments (PSC). "We are positive that Hyperlink will facilitate DRC to migrate to Web-based systems efficiently and equip us with the right tools that will help us achieve our objectives."

Dani Diab, Executive Vice President and General Manager of Hyperlink, commented: "Reducing costs and increasing profitability is the goal of every organization. However, the difference lies in how each company goes about the business of achieving this goal. Having successfully enabled many companies to migrate to Web-based systems, we, at Hyperlink firmly believe that real-time information sharing across the enterprises is the most effective solution to fast-track business growth. We are proud to have been selected by Dubai Refreshment Company to seamlessly integrate all their business processes and are confident that the company will find a remarkable difference in its functioning, leading to higher productivity and profits."

"In a hotly contested industry that requires innovation to maintain market leadership, Dubai Refreshments created a major advantage by taking greater control over its disparate financial, human resources, and manufacturing processes. Integrating and putting these systems online should result in measurable cost savings, while opening the door to new bottling and distribution opportunities for the company," commented Husam Dajani, Vice President, Oracle Middle East.

The Oracle e-Business Suite, which creates a single definition of employees, customers, suppliers and products allowing simultaneous availability of data across the enterprise, will be at the heart of the new integration process implemented by Hyperlink. The project will entail the implementation of the Oracle Financials, Distribution, Enterprise Asset Management (eAM), Discrete Manufacturing and HR modules, to facilitate the integration with Pepsi Sales and Distribution System and Pepsi Time and Attendance System. DRC has one manufacturing plant, three warehouses, 100 trucks and 600 employees.

Oracle eAM, a part of Oracle's 11i E-Business suite, will address the comprehensive maintenance requirements of DRC's three strategic groups of assets and equipment comprising of the plant equipment, the fleet of vehicles and the marketing equipment namely, coolers, vending machines and post-mix. Oracle eAM is the most effective integrated tool available to companies today to improve their bottom line with return on investment. Increased productivity and equipment efficiency is the basic tenet of effective asset management. Oracle eAM helps avoid unplanned equipment shutdowns, schedule required maintenance at times that minimize interference with production output, and reduce the number and cost of equipment repairs by improving overall maintenance quality.

Oracle Discrete Manufacturing of Oracle's 11i E-Business suite will provide a complete production management system to DRC that primarily bases on the Bills of Materials, Work in Process and Cost Management application modules and supports with the inquiries and reports that give a comprehensive picture of transactions, materials, resources, costs, and job and schedule progress.

"Hyperlink's in-depth knowledge of the bottling industry combined with its application expertise will be valuable resources to the project as they will enable us to leverage the application functionality to the maximum to meet the specific bottling operation requirements," added Diab.

"Hyperlink is equipped to handle consulting, implementation, integration and training, as we have highly experienced full-time consultants who are assigned to specific projects. The choice of Oracle e-Business Suite is appropriate because it can easily integrate with Pepsi's proprietary Sales and Distribution System to allow improved performance and efficiency without any great difficulty."
