Bahrain 'accepts' F1 cancellation

  • Bahrain: Saturday, June 11 - 2011 at 13:49

Chairman of the Bahrain International Circuit, Zayed Alzayani has said the kingdom has accepted the cancellation of the postponed Formula One race after teams objected to it being rescheduled in October, Reuters has reported. "Whilst Bahrain would have been delighted to see the Grand Prix progress on October 30 ... it has been made clear that this fixture cannot progress and we fully respect that decision," Alzayani said.

"We want our role in Formula One to continue to be as positive and constructive as it has always been, therefore, in the best interest of the sport, we will not pursue the rescheduling of a race this season," he added.
