Standard Chartered UAE welcomes Williams

John Williams has been appointed Head of Legal and Compliance for Standard Chartered Bank in the UAE.

Williams, an Irishman, joins Standard Chartered Bank from the National Bank of Abu Dhabi, where he spent the last six years as audit manager, branch network manager and Head of Operations.

With a banking career spanning three decades, his career began with Allied Irish Bank in Northern Ireland in 1973, before moving to Saudi American Bank in Riyadh, in 1994, where he took up a post of Audit Manager with special responsibility for Risk Management and Treasury.

"John is a great asset for the bank, with his proven abilities in leadership, motivation and all aspects of modern banking operations," said Ray Ferguson, Chief Executive Officer, Standard Chartered Bank - UAE.

Williams is a Professional of the Institution of Internal Auditors, a Member of the Institute of Bankers in Ireland, holds a Certified Diploma in Accounting and Finance, and is accredited by ACCA - the Association of Certified Chartered Accountants.

John is 48 and married with three children. He is a committee member of the Irish Society in Abu Dhabi, takes part in mini and youth rugby through the Abu Dhabi Rugby Club and is an avid golfer.
