EIM offers free dial-up Internet registration for one month
- United Arab Emirates: Sunday, August 03 - 2003 at 12:47
- PRESS RELEASE
New customers wishing to subscribe to the UAE's Internet dial-up service will be offered free registration for one month between August 04th and September 03rd 2003, Emirates Internet and Multimedia announced today.
"Dial-up is the most common form of Internet access for the home user and this is a great opportunity for those who have been thinking about connecting to the Internet, but have not yet taken that initial step to register," commented Maroua Naim, GM, EIM.
Dial-up Internet access allows customers to get online with the minimum of effort and expense. Connection to the Internet is made through a standard telephone line, computer and V.90 modem. With speeds of 56kbps, the dial-up package is the most basic of access methods and is often seen as the first step onto the Internet for home users and small businesses.
"This promotion is another example of our efforts to continuously increase the number of subscribers in the UAE and retain our position as the regional leader in Internet penetration," added Naim. The higher the number of users that log onto the Net, the more pervasive important initiatives including e-government and Internet in Schools will become."
Customers are also given low hourly rates during peak hours (6am - 1am) and off peak rate hours (1am - 6:00am).
With over 300,000 dial-up subscribers and over 1,000,000 users, dial-up is by far the most popular of the services offered by EIM.
