Optical Middle East 2002 to showcase leading eyewear brands

The world's most fashionable eyewear collections will compete for attention at Optical Middle East 2002 to be held February 14-17, 2002 at the Dubai International Exhibition Centre and two new luxury brands will make their official debut in the region in conjunction with the exhibition.

The exhibition, which is in its 5th season, has caught and attracted the participation of numerous frame suppliers who will showcase high-end frame options - in both prescription and non-prescription format.

"Eyewear offers individuals an opportunity to make a fashion statement and consumers in the Middle East have the penchant and power to select top-name brands. Optical Middle East will provide trade professionals in the region with access to a range of options - including, many of the world's classiest options," said Jackie Reed, International Project Manager for Optical Middle East.

Al Amin Medical Instruments (AMICO) will showcase the new Tag Heuer Sports Vision line at Optical Middle East. Tag Heuer is a market leader in luxury sport watches and will make its debut in the prescription eyewear and sunglasses scene in February 2002 The new line, designed by the London Ross Lovegrove studio, winner of the Designer of the Year 2000 in Cologne, is expected to attract significant interest from fashion-conscious individuals.

"The worldwide launch of Tag Heuer Sports Vision will be in select outlets as of February 2002, to coincide with Optical Middle East. The new line features alpha and beta titanium, elements that are both avant-garde and noble," said Socie Proudian, of AMICO, adding that the company will also present eyewear by Fred, one of the most luxurious brands on the market, at the exhibition.

"The Fred selection to be featured at Optical Middle East includes hand-made top-quality options which merge strong style and nobility with beauty," said Proudian.

Odo, a company from France will feature the Bugatti collection while Optimeyes will showcase a range of exclusive brands from France, including Calvin Klein (CK), DKNY, St Dupont and Chopard. According to Yasser Taher of Optimeyes, the DKNY brand of eyewear will make its "official debut" in the region in conjunction with Optical Middle East.

"One of our most popular lines, the CK line, has broadened its range to include more choices for ladies. In the past, the range was more male-oriented but this year's line features new options for women. Meanwhile, the new Chopard line to be featured at Optical Middle East will specifically target the 30 and up ladies' market while the Classic St. Dupont brand targets exclusive clients of the male population," said Taher.

Another exclusive line to be featured at the exhibition will be the Daniel Swarovski Crystal Eye collection which will be on display at the Silhouette stand.

Optical Middle East is a biennial event that will celebrate its 5th season in 2002. The exhibition features a range of eye products including sunglasses, contact lenses, frames and eye-care products.
