  • PRESS RELEASE

Palm, Inc. (Nasdaq: PALM), the leading provider of handheld computers, yesterday announced their support of Dubai Men's College, sponsored by Dubai Police GHQ for Dubai Summer Surprises 2003, Adventure Surprises.

The students of Dubai Men's College (DMC) in close cooperation with Dubai Police are organizing an interactive exhibition at the BurJuman Centre as an activity for Dubai Summer Surprises 2003. Palm is lending their support by providing PDAs (personal digital assistants) to the students.

Mr Stuart Maughan, General Manager, Middle East Branch, Palm Europe Ltd said, "It is our great pleasure to support DMC with our latest Tungsten C WiFi enabled handhelds. I am extremely impressed by the expertise and knowledge of the students in the field of IT and am very excited to see technology used by the students in such an innovative and creative way. We are very happy that we can support the students in this wonderful event".

Palm is providing 30 handheld Tungsten C PDAs. These will be used by the students to capture information from those visiting the interactive exhibition. Quicker and more convenient than regular pencil and paper, the Palms will be used to manage the expo, keep in touch over the HotSpot network, show video clips and book in visitors via the web when they arrive.

The Tungsten C's WiFi technology allows users to get connected at home, at the office or in the growing number of hotel, cafe and airport HotSpots with super-fast Wi-Fi (802.11b) technology, and download email or browse websites with blazing efficiency. It's fast and 128-bit security keeps data safe.

Mr Maughan commented, "With the recent introductions of HotSpots across the UAE in leading shopping malls, you can be sure you will be seeing more Palm PDAs as you do your shopping".

Adventure Surprises has been arranged to bring fun not only to children but also to their parents. Every one in the family will experience adventure and fun either by participating in sailing trips or by enjoying the real desert. Several activities will take place in this week, like competitions organized for discovering treasures and other adventures, which require physical and mental inputs and a high level of co-operation between competing teams.

The exhibition, at the BurJuman Centre will operate daily from 10:00am to 10:00pm except on Friday it will start at 3:00pm, 14-20 August 2003.
