Organizing committee of Offshore Arabia Conference and Exhibition recommends forming unified work groups in the Gulf

The organizing committee of the Offshore Arabia Conference and Exhibition 2012 met today to discuss the preparations for the seventh edition of this event. The committee had discussed and approved the topics that shall be featured in the conference.

The topics include the latest and techniques advancements utilized in the field of environment protection, oil spill prevention, national plans, emergency and catastrophe management, sea and ships route monitoring and new advances in the energy sector.

The organizing committee members; composed of members of the Regional Clean Sea Organization (RECSO) and Index Conferences and Exhibitions Organisation Est. - member of Index Holding have highlighted the importance of the Offshore Arabia Conference and Exhibition which comes in time with the current challenges and massive changes that we are facing at the moment, such as; disruption in oil prices and the disturbance of the climate change and how these changes affect the economic, environmental and social systems.

Offshore Arabia Conference and Exhibition is held under the patronage of H.H. Sheikh Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice-President and Prime Minister of the United Arab Emirates and Ruler of Dubai. It will take place at the Dubai international Convention and Exhibition Centre from the 27th - 29th of February 2012.

Mr. Abdul Salam Al Madani, President of Index Holding said: "Preparations are in full swing for Offshore Arabia. We believe that this event comes at a crucial time and will have a positive impact on the environment and the economy." He also assured that all preparations are running according to schedule with all the international expertise sharing their knowledge.

Al Madani also said: "For the past six years, Offshore Arabia Conference and Exhibition introduced extensive research on environment and renewable energy. A large number of officials, experts and specialists in the sectors of oil and gas, energy, maritime transportation, marine pollution, environment, will present their extensive research, which makes Offshore Arabia a perfect platform for businesses and companies working in this field to present the most up-to-date technology."

The Regional Clean Sea Organization (RECSO) is a major player in protecting the marine environment of the Arabian Gulf; it is also the right hand for the national oil and gas and shipping companies working in gulf governed by the joint agreement that was signed by members to reduce pollution and boost cooperation between the members.

Mr. Mohamed Ghuloom, Organizing Committee Chairman and the General Manager - Engineering Division (BAPCO), referred to the value of the Offshore Arabia Conference and Exhibition and the role that this event plays in the region. He also said: "It is important to host this event in the United Arab Emirates on a regular basis in order to provide a suitable platform for experts to discuss best practices in the environmental field and especially in the fields related to marine pollution. As the GCC holds more than 40% of the world's oil reserves, this makes the gulf a very sensitive area due to the high traffic of international oil tankers.

The Organizing Committee recommended boosting efforts to combat pollution and oil and chemical spills by implementing international resolutions and standards that were set to protect and sustain the marine environment. Additionally they recommended creating a national plan that aims at providing solutions and coordination among member countries by creating work groups that will be responsible for applying best practices and exchanging information and expertise, reinforcing national cooperation in addition to adopting a regional cooperation plan related to security, supplies and reduce green house gas emissions and develop new communication strategies in order to achieve this.

The Middle East, Gulf and North Africa regions are witnessing a tremendous changes and challenges in the environmental and energy fields. The future plans for the Offshore Arabia Conference and Exhibition is designed to adapt and interact positively with those challenges to reduce its impact on the environment, in addition to involve communities and institutions in order to maintain a sustainable future.

Offshore Arabia Conference and Exhibition is the only regional platform for companies from all over the world where they can meet and discuss the challenges of this industry and work together to formulate better strategic decisions that can activate and enhance the energy and the environment.
