Ibrahim Abdul Rahim to head Global Village

Ibrahim Abdul Rahim, who has played a leading role in the success of the Dubai Shopping Festival and Dubai Summer Surprises, has been appointed Director of Global Village, Dubai's most popular cultural and entertainment extravaganza.

Mr. Abdul Rahim, who was previously Projects Director at DSF, will be taking over the top post at Global Village, as part of a major initiative underway to transform this annual event into an international tourism landmark.

Mr. Hussain Ali Lootah, Executive Chairman of Dubai Shopping Festival, said: "Ibrahim Abdul Rahim brings to the Global Village management a wealth of experience and tremendous skills acquired and honed during his years with both DSF and DSS. He possesses the kind of leadership qualities that are important to successfully manage massive projects like the Global Village. As a national with exceptional organisational capabilities, we are confident that Ibrahim will succeed in this rapidly expanding and challenging project".

Commenting on his appointment, Mr. Rahim said: "I am proud to have been selected to this important position. I understand the great responsibility and trust placed in me, and welcome the challenge of guiding the Global Village to greater heights. I look forward to working closely with the rest of my experienced team, government and private sectors to launch a long-term plan of exciting events and activities to make Global Village even more attractive to residents and visitors, and further enhance Dubai's reputation as a popular family destination".

Every year, the Global Village attracts over three million people, showcasing a myriad of cultures through the country pavilions of numerous countries. The events and exhibitions include a variety of entertainment, cuisine, arts and handicrafts, amusement areas, and much more.
