The new digital Local Area Network-based (LAN-based) communications network will be provided and installed by Avaya's BusinessPartner, Seven Seas. The turnkey implementation will provide flexible and mobile telephony throughout the Team's warehouse and engineering workshops in Jebel Ali.

"Avaya's Unified Messenger extends the functionality of our existing e-mail messaging system by providing a single mailbox for voice mail, e-mail, and fax messages," said John Ide, who is responsible for Victory Team's IT & Infrastructure. "This allows all members of our organisation to retrieve, respond to and manage their communications requirements from a touch-tone telephone, multimedia PC, or Internet connection, ultimately enabling every member of the Team to stay connected with each other no matter where in the world powerboat racing takes them."

Avaya's INDeX Communication Server, focused on mid-sized companies requiring enhanced networking and contact centre solutions, offers new levels of mobility with built in Digital Enhanced Cordless Telephony (DECT) technology . This is particularly important for Victory Team members as it allows them to enjoy on and off site wireless communication so that they can remain in contact with each other at all times. In addition, Avaya INDeX's modular 'add on' nature means that any future scalability requirements for Contact Centre and Customer Relationship Management (CRM) solutions can be immediately met.

"The INDeX platform can accommodate growing numbers of ports and employees, while at the same time provide the potential for the team to use wireless telephony in all of its global races by using a GSM interface out of a mobile base station. The data and voice capabilities of INDeX also allow the team to conduct video conferences; and by using Voice over Internet Protocol (VoIP) solutions, team members can be patched in from any location in the world to resolve any issues; make fast and accurate decisions; and take advantage of any sudden powerboat racing opportunities," said Walter Koenig, regional managing director, Middle East, North Africa and South Eastern Europe, Avaya.

"These Avaya solutions complement our global number one position in the fast-paced world of offshore powerboat racing where uptime is critical, as it enables us to power our backroom communications with the latest technology that integrates our voice and data communications traffic, and it allows us to enjoy the benefits of Computer Telephony Integration (CTI), mobile telephony, contact centre management, and on-site support services," added Khalfan Harib, managing director, Victory Team.
