Pure Gold Jewellers opens in Qatar

Speaking about the company's new market entry, Firoz Merchant, Chairman of Pure Gold Jewellers, said: "Qatar, with its strong economic growth prospects, is a market that no retailer in the Middle East can ignore. Moving into Qatar strengthens our regional presence and gives us more opportunities for growth. With the country's hosting of the 2022 World Cup, there will be more infrastructure developments and retail opportunities. This is the perfect time for us to enter Qatar."

He added: "We plan to open an additional five stores next year, taking our total number of shops in the country to ten by the end of 2012."

The new stores are located in Gold Souq, Landmark Mall and Villaggio Mall in Doha; and displays an extensive collection of diamonds and gold jewellery including the company's trademark brands- Pure Diamonds, Pure 22k, Trillium, Solitaire, Pure Sparkle, Pure Platinum and Bridal collections, to name a few.

Speaking about the company's business performance this year, Merchant added: "We have opened new stores this year including one in Muscat Duty Free, a flagship store in Dubai's Deira City Centre and a new store in Dubai's traditional Gold Souq. We expect to open a total of 10 stores in the GCC, including Qatar, by the end of this year. Alongside growth plans in GCC, we are on track with our expansion plans of having 30 operational stores by the end of 2011 in India."
