Bahrain Property Development Association holds discussions with parliament speaker on avenues of cooperation

Key officials of leading non-profit organization, Bahrain Property Development Association (BaPDA) met with speaker of the Bahrain parliament and Chairman of the National Dialogue, Mr. Khalifa bin Ahmad Al-Dhahrani on Sunday, July 24, 2011.

The delegation consisting of Chairman of the Board of BaPDA Mr. Aaref Hejres, Vice President, Dr. Hasan Al Bastaki and Board Member and Treasurer, Mr. Maher Al Shaer held discussions with Mr. Al-Dhahrani on ways in which the organization can work together with the Parliament and government bodies to explore ways in which the organization can be of service and to create new opportunities to enhance the overall efficiency of the property development sector in Bahrain. The officials introduced the Speaker to the vision and fundamental goals governing BaPDA.

Speaking on the occasion, Mr. Aaref Hejres, Chairman of the Board of BaPDA, expressing his satisfaction with the discussions and anticipated initiatives said, "This effort comes within the framework of BaPDA's vision to strengthen its relationship with government bodies and institutions. It is also in line with our strategic objectives and actions towards development and excellence and creating clear channels for the exchange of experiences and knowledge and the upgrading of services and efficiency while deepening the benefits envisioned for the property development industry in the country. The Kingdom of Bahrain has been at the forefront as a destination of global investment for many companies and investors from around the world, and we believe that BaPDA can assist in providing research expertise and statistics that can help in the formation of new laws and initiatives that will support the property development sector in a manner consistent with national aspirations. We are greatly encouraged by the support and interest that Mr. Al-Dhahrani has shown."

Background

The Bahrain Property Development Association (BaPDA) is a non-profit organization established in 2010 with the vision of becoming the Kingdom of Bahrain's recognised property development association. It is a representative organisation that will foster infrastructure services, cooperation, fair trade practices and integrity among its members, while providing a platform for members to liaise with the government authorities in forming best practice policies relating to the industry.

At a meeting held to launch the organization and attended by 17 CEOs and senior management officials from major development companies in the Kingdom it was agreed unanimously on the need for such an organization that would serve to bring them together effectively to benefit the industry in Bahrain. A Board of Directors was elected with Mr. Aaref Hejres, CEO of Diyar Al Muharraq, Chairman of the Board, Dr Hassan Al Bastaki of Manara Development, Vice Chairman, Mr. Maher Al Shaer of GREDCO as the Treasurer and Mr. Tariq Al Jowder of Al Areen as Executive Secretary.

BaPDA has pledged to organize, sponsor, and participate, in regional and international meetings, seminars, conferences, exhibitions, and general networking events to promote the property development industry of Bahrain. It has promised to honor the industry's commitment to the country and participate with all resources available, in the preservation of all aspects of Bahrain's infrastructural, social, cultural and environmental growth.
