EFG Hermes maintains Lebanon's growth forecast at 3.5%

  • Lebanon: Thursday, August 11 - 2011 at 08:06

EFG Hermes has affirmed their real GDP growth forecast for Lebanon at 3.5% in the current year, the Daily Star has reported. The bank also mentioned possible downside risks, the first if political uncertainty persists, the second if Syrian events escalate further, and the third if the opposition resorts to countrywide demonstrations. The investment bank believes that if the national dialogue is revived and political tensions ease off, the Lebanese economy can make up for some of the lost first half of 2011 growth opportunities in the second half of 2011.
