Compagnie Libanaise d'Assurances S.A.L renamed Zurich Insurance Middle East S.A.L

Zurich has announced that the UAE Insurance Authority in the UAE has approved their application to change the name of its recently acquired subsidiary Compagnie Libanaise d'Assurances S.A.L (CLA). The legal entity in the UAE will be known as Zurich Insurance Middle East S.A.L with immediate effect and Zurich is also seeking approval from the local regulators in Oman, Lebanon and Kuwait to allow its branches in those countries to operate under the same name.

Maroun Mourad, CEO of Zurich's General Insurance operations in the Middle East said: "Zurich is an internationally recognised and well respected brand, representing some of the best products and customer service levels available within the insurance sector. This announcement marks an important milestone in the integration process following Zurich's acquisition of CLA. It is also the first stage in the gradual rollout of a broad range of new insurance products and propositions we have planned for the region".

Michael Mansour, General Manager for Zurich in the UAE, said: "This is an exciting time for the insurance sector in the UAE as the market continues to grow and mature. With our expansion into personal, small business and middle market segments, we are looking to combine our international reputation for high quality service with a range of innovative new products that cater to the diverse needs of our customers".

Zurich completed its acquisition of CLA in December of 2010. It continues to accelerate the expansion of its operations in the Middle East by providing market leading products to Personal and Commercial customers in these important markets, complementing its existing General Insurance presence in Bahrain and the Dubai International Financial Centre.
