HP's line of Windows® Powered NAS solutions, including the HP StorageWorks NAS 1000s, delivers a key building block of HP's ENSAextended strategy providing controllable, resilient and extensible storage solutions to enable the Adaptive Enterprise. The NAS 1000s is a turnkey, multi-protocol file-serving solution that enables departments, remote offices and SMBs to manage and grow their business without storage limitations.

"With the StorageWorks NAS 1000s, HP now offers the broadest line of integrated, interoperable NAS solutions that meet the needs of the smallest businesses to large data centers," said Patrick Bonelli, vice president, Network Storage Solutions, HP Europe, Middle East and Africa (EMEA). "HP's deep experience and market leadership in file serving, coupled with two decades of partnership with Microsoft, uniquely qualifies HP to meet a broad range of customers' business needs."

The StorageWorks NAS 1000s is ideal for the diverse requirements of the entry-level market, offering the flexibility of multi-protocol file support and remote storage management for workgroups, small business and enterprise remote locations. The StorageWorks NAS 1000s includes integrated software designed to support a multi-protocol environment, snapshot capability, replication and volume expansion. Cost effective support from HP Global Services ensures continuous availability, a critical requirement for enterprise remote office deployments involving many StorageWorks NAS 1000s solutions replicating to a single NAS head at a central office.

"HP and Microsoft have made significant investments to improve the management and reliability of storage systems in a Windows environment," said Zane Adam, director of product management and marketing, Microsoft Enterprise Storage Group. "The HP StorageWorks NAS 1000s and StorageWorks NAS b3000 are shining examples of enterprise class storage solutions being delivered at affordable prices on the Windows platform. This productive relationship with HP will continue to drive customer return on investment with end-to-end storage solutions that scale, are easier to manage and deliver higher service."

HP also recently introduced the StorageWorks NAS b3000 Exchange solution, which increases the efficiencies of consolidating a Microsoft Exchange 2000 environment on a SAN by adding HP StorageWorks NAS to enable file-level access for clients as well as file consolidation. HP and Microsoft have also begun an eight-city European roadshow organised by leading IT analyst firm, IDC Research, to showcase the benefits of the b3000. (See related announcement, "HP and Microsoft to Showcase Jointly-Developed Solution for NAS/SAN Fusion at European Storage Roadshow.")

The StorageWorks NAS 1000s and b3000 will be available worldwide from HP directly and through HP's extensive partner network. "Our partner network is a competitive advantage that helps us deliver storage solutions to growing businesses, so customers get more value from HP," said Robyn West, vice president of Small & Medium Business, HP. "Many of our partners already have relationships with small and medium size businesses and will use our new entry-level products to pursue new business opportunities and retain existing customers."

HP StorageWorks products and solutions will be showcased at Storage Networking World Europe, June 3-6, in booth #P3 as well as in the conference's Interoperability Lab.
