- PRESS RELEASE
Acer Computer (M.E.) Ltd has today unveiled a new sales strategy aimed at increasing its strong performance in the Middle East's technology retail market. The company plans to increase its hold on the market by reaching out to the large youth population.
"The release of the n10 in the Middle East is a milestone for Acer because it signifies a new direction for us. With the launch of the n10 we providing the market with the latest in compact and stylish technology, as well as extending the reach of Acer's brand," said Krishna Murthy, general manager, Acer Computer (M.E.) Ltd.
"Until now, most of the products we have offered in the Middle East have been designed with the corporate and home user in mind. Alternatively, the n10 is geared toward the younger generation with its fashionable looks and affordable price."
Market analysts have highlighted the size of the youth market in the Middle East as a key reason for the buoyant nature of the domestic technology sector. According to the Population Reference Bureau, the region's population growth rate has become the highest in the world.
The region's population tripled in 2000 from 1950. Today, close to two-thirds of the people in the Middle East are below 25 years of age.
"Around the world, the Middle East is known for its high-level spending power and large amount of young people," added Murthy. "By opening up a new section of the market to Acer we expect our overall sales will increase by 15 per cent."
