Norton Rose Group advise Bahrain MoF in relation to financial close of Bahrain's first wastewater treatment PPP project

Norton Rose (Middle East) LLP have advised the Ministry of Finance, Bahrain in relation to all aspects of the financial close of Bahrain's first wastewater treatment PPP project. The project, which has now reached financial close, has a projected capital expenditure of $250m and includes the operation of the plant for a 27 year period.

The project is the first wastewater treatment plant procured by the Government of Bahrain on a PPP basis and the first procured by the Ministry of Works. Norton Rose (Middle East) LLP has also advised the Ministry of Finance in Bahrain in relation to the preparation of a National Privatisation Strategy Plan for the Sanitary Engineering Affairs Department of the Ministry of Works as part of Bahrain's overall privatisation strategy and Economic Vision 2030.

The Norton Rose (Middle East) LLP team was led by partner Joanne Emerson Taqi with assistance from associates Hugh Murray and Catherine Johnston.

HSBC was financial adviser to the Ministry of Finance, Bahrain and Fichtner was technical adviser on this project.
