Leading International and Arabic media to attend Arab Journalism Award Ceremony to be held on 8th Oct. in Dubai

Mona Al Marri, General Secretary of the Arab Journalism Award announced that the Award's gala presentation ceremony will be hosted on Wednesday 8th October, 2003 in Dubai.
Al Marri said that the Arab Journalism Award, launched by the directives of H.H.General Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Crown Prince of Dubai and the UAE Defence Minister in November 1999 - has shown a "qualitative and a quantitative improvement in the applications submitted, which reflects the success of the Award in positioning itself in context to other international journalism awards."
She said that, "The number of applicants has been overwhelming, and reflects the growing popularity of the award in the Arabic media." Al Marri, who is also the Executive Manager of Dubai Press Club, said, "We have witnessed over the past three years, a keen interest by the print media journalists from the Arab firmament to participate in the Awards."
She added that the Arab Journalism Awards were instituted to honour excellence, recognise talent, encourage initiative and award creativity among the journalists of the Arab World.
Transparency is the key factor behind the credibility the Arab Journalism Award, which follows high professional standards both in its organization as well as in the selection of winners in the different categories.
Each of the award category carries a prize money and the total prize value of the Award is USD 230,000/- which includes 12 categories besides the Media Personality of the Year: Politics, Business, Investigative Journalism, IT, Best Columnist, Culture, Photo-Journalism, Caricature, Interview and Journalism for children.
