Bahrain Property Developers Association organizes know-how exchange with Dubai property industry experts

Dynamic non-profit organization, Bahrain Property Developers Association (BaPDA) organized a meeting with officials from two of Dubai's foremost land development agencies on September 29, 2011. The meeting was arranged for members of the Bahrain industry to understand and benefit first hand from the experiences of the Emirate of Dubai, which has seen immense and breakthrough growth and advancement during the last two decades.

Dubai Real Estate Regulatory Authority (RERA) is a part of the strategic plan of the Dubai land department aimed towards achieving an inclusive set of local and international real estate goals in order to regulate and register the real estate market, thus supporting the government's vision towards achieving precedence, uniqueness and continued development. Dubai Real Estate Institute (DREI) is an industry-founded learning community providing comprehensive, high quality graduate and professional development programs on real estate.

Representatives of both RERA and DREI participated in the unique program of knowledge sharing, with top officials from Bahrain's real estate industry. Sheikh Mohammed bin Khalifa, Chairman of RERA welcomed Mr. Aaref Hejres, Chairman of BaPDA and the Bahrain delegation, followed by a stimulating session of exchange and sharing of views of the industry in Bahrain and Dubai which was attended also by the two Chairmen. During the meeting Mr. Mahmoud El Burai, Managing Director of DREI made a presentation introducing the two organizations to the delegation.

The Bahrain participants included Mr. Aaref Hejres, CEO of Diyar Al Muharraq and Chairman of the Board of BaPDA; Dr. Hassan Al Bastaki Managing Director of Manara Developments (NURANA) and Vise president of BaPDA; Mr. Rudolph Knuppel, Senior Development Officer of Bahrain Real Estate Investment Co. B.S.C.(c), Adama; Dr. Bashar Habib Ahmadi, Managing Director of Orchid Developers; Mr. Zaid Al Waary and Mr. Khalid AbdulGhafar, Development Assistants of Diyar Al Muharraq; Ms. Shattha Al Jalahma, Executive Coordinator of BaPDA; Mr. Khalid Al Khaja, Head of Projects of Marina West Real Estate Company W.L.L and Representing Bahrain's Ministry of Housing, Mr. Sami Abdulla Qambar, Chief, Land Affairs Group of the Ministry also attended the meeting, reinforcing BaPDA's commitment to working hand in hand with the government in addressing the Nation's vision for the future.

Speaking about the event, Mr. Aaref Hejres, Chairman of the Board of BaPDA, said, "The real estate sector is one of the most important sectors of industry in the region, accounting for greater employment opportunities, a key ingredient for the nation's economic growth. Dubai's rapid growth and excellence in infrastructure and architecture has been a classic example of good governance and inspired planning and we are very fortunate to have this opportunity to share in their expertise. We are grateful to the leaders and teams of both RERA and DREI for their generosity in hosting us. BaPDA has been deeply engaged in improving standards within our industry, working from the strong belief that collaboration, communication and co-operation are crucial elements in achieving our goal. BaPDA has been dynamic in seeking the best for our members creating opportunities for interaction and exchange of ideas and utilizing every avenue that could lead to incremental experience and knowledge."

BaPDA has conducted and participated in several conferences and seminars in the last year that have facilitated the exchange of information improving communication and increasing efficiency through shared experiences and expertise between members of the real estate industry in the region. It has initiated several action plans to improve education and professionalism to nurture a sound and supportive environment that benefits all, allowing for greater cooperation and understanding.
