- PRESS RELEASE
Haya Water has announced that it will be a sponsor of the Oman Investment Forum 2011 in October that has attracted Government decision makers and private sector executives to debate the excellent and growing number investment and business opportunities in the Sultanate's rapidly growing projects market.
Haya Water's General Manager for Project, Abdullah Al Hashimi, will address conference delegates on the second day of the event and detail the success that the company has had in producing treated effluent that can be used for the widest range of irrigation projects and creating a greener Muscat.
Commenting on their participation in the Forum, Abdullah Al Hashimi said, "Haya Water is delighted to be a sponsor of such an important forum that brings together the private and public sector to discuss and debate ways to work together and invest in the economic future and prosperity of Oman."
"The scope and scale of our own infrastructure project is one that is already having major direct and indirect economic benefits in the Muscat Governorate area - bringing a modern and efficient water reuse system into being that will benefit tens of thousands of individuals, families and business," he added.
"The end product of our development - treated effluent - is now becoming a commercial product that Haya Water is able to sell to a range of organisations in the public and private sector - providing them with a much more cost effective option than using water produced through desalination or other methods," he said.
He added that the Forum would give Haya Water an opportunity to share their experiences, expertise and knowledge with a gathering of business leaders and Government officials looking for new business opportunities and potential partnerships for the future.
A vital element of the water reuse project has been the construction of the Al Ansab water treatment plant that includes the world's largest submerged membrane bio-reactor system with a capacity to handle up to 54,000 cubic metres of effluent every day that will double to 110,000 cubic metres a day when Phase 2 of the project is completed.
A total of 75% of the treated effluent is being supplied for irrigation and other purposes across the Muscat Governorate. Treated effluent from the water reuse project is used for greening parks, public areas, golf courses, developers for their projects and roadside landscaping.
Connecting 80% of Muscat residences to the new modern system will relieve Muscat residents from smelly septic tanks and the hassle of obtaining a truck to remove away raw sewage from private homes and businesses across the whole of Muscat - making life healthier for families and children.
The 3-day Forum has been organised by MEED, Middle East Business Intelligence, in a strategic partnership with the Public Authority for Investment Promotion & Exports Development - Oman (PAIPED) and takes place at the Al Bustan Palace Hotel between 10th to 12th October.
