The significant growth in sales of Acer notebooks has been achieved through competitive pricing and an increase in the variety of models available.

"The overall notebook market in the Middle East is growing in excess of 50 percent year-on-year, which is deeply satisfying, but Acer's growth in Saudi Arabia's notebook segment has exceeded our expectations. So far, we have recorded 115 percent growth on 2002," said Krishna Murthy, general manager, Acer Computer (M.E.) Ltd.

"By pushing ahead and achieving such high levels of growth in the notebook segment, we are increasing our market share in the Kingdom and capitalizing on Saudi Arabia's position at the cutting-edge of the Middle East's technology market. Acer plans to continue its growth in Saudi Arabia by continually offering top-quality products at reasonable and competitive prices," said Sunil Nair, regional sales manager, Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, Acer Computer (M.E.) Ltd.

Part of Acer's strategy to enhance its presence in Saudi Arabia's notebook market has included working closely with its channel network. "Demand for Acer's range of notebooks is high in Saudi Arabia and the supply of our products into the country has been helped by our hardworking reseller channel," added Nair.

Meeting the Needs of Saudi Arabia's Market
Acer has released a wide variety of notebooks in response to customer demand. To date, both Acer's Celeron and Centrino-based notebooks have recorded strong sales results in Saudi Arabia.

"To maintain our strong presence in Saudi Arabia, our strategy is to offer a broad portfolio range of notebooks that will meet the needs of everyone, from students up to high-powered businessmen that want the most advanced technological models," said Nair

"Because of Acer's strong drive to be first-to-market with groundbreaking products, we now have more than 10 different models of our company's notebooks available in the Kingdom," added Nair

Of the different notebooks available in the Saudi Arabia, strong sales results have been recorded for Acer's award-winning notebook PC, the TravelMate 800. Since its launch in March, Acer has received favorable reviews from users for the top-of-the-range notebook PC which is designed to provide performance, portability and powerful battery life to mobile users.

Additionally, Acer recently has added to its range of notebooks with the launch of its second tablet PC, the TravelMate C110. The arrival of the TravelMate C110 - which includes Windows XP Tablet PC Edition and the latest Intel Centrino Mobile technology - will meet the needs of the mobile business community, who need access to their data whilst on the road.

The C110 is the first Tablet PC with Intel Centrino Mobile Technology in the Middle East. With the introduction of the C110, Acer has taken mobile computing in Saudi Arabia to a higher level with its light weight design and ease-of-use functionality.

In the future, Acer plans to introduce more Centrino-based laptops and tablet PCs to Saudi Arabia to consolidate its position in the market.

"Based on the interest that has already been shown on our wide range of models in Saudi Arabia, we expect that the expansion of our product portfolio will further boost our success in the Kingdom," concluded Nair
