"Localisation of products is always at the forefront of research and development on LG products," said Mr. P. C. Choi, President, LG Electronics Gulf FZE.

"This is possibly the most exciting
'localisation' of a product that LG has undertaken because of the implications of the Qiblah indicator."

"No matter where the faithful are at the call to prayer, they will be able to easily identify the direction of Mecca."

The Qiblah indicator uses an inbuilt longitude and latitude orientation or city references that when used with a comparison to magnetic north, indicates the direction of Mecca. The phone comes complete with a compass to ensure the user can always find the reference point of north.

The introduction of the G5300 Qiblah follows hot on the heels of the global and regional digital leader's recent launch of five new mobile handsets.

"The latest wave of new mobile handsets LG has introduced adds greater depth to its range of handsets," said Choi.

"But at the end of the day, we have to ensure the functionality of our products suit the sector they are intended for and LG will strive to bring more innovations like the Qiblah phone to the Middle East market."
