Overwhelming school response for Abu Dhabi Science Festival

From digging up dinosaurs, unwrapping Egyptian mummies and discovering the Muslim heritage in today's technologies to launching rockets and building hydrogen-fueled cars, the Festival is bringing over 150 exciting informal science learning experiences to Abu Dhabi in a variety of spectacular shows, interactive exhibits and fun workshops. The Abu Dhabi Science Festival, which will become an annual event, will run its various activities from 18 to 26 November primarily at Abu Dhabi National Exhibition Centre (ADNEC) and the Corniche and is bound to be one of the largest hands-on science events in the world.

The Festival is an initiative of the Abu Dhabi Technology Development Committee (TDC) and has been designed to inspire the Emirate's youth in Science, Technology and Innovation (STI). In organizing this city-wide event, TDC has joined forces with its education partner, the Abu Dhabi Education Council (ADEC), as well as the Edinburgh International Science Festival and 1001 Inventions as programming partners. The partnership with ADEC supports curriculum reforms by engaging students in fun, active learning experiences outside the classroom.

Held under the patronage of His Highness General Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi and Deputy Supreme Commander of the UAE Armed Forces and supported by its main sponsors, Tawazun and Dolphin Energy, the Festival is one of many strategic initiatives that TDC will launch to popularize STI in Abu Dhabi in support of the Emirate's long-term human capital development plans and as part of TDC's mandate to help elevate Abu Dhabi into a world-class center for STI.
