The recently graduated trainees will work on Hyperlink's projects across the Middle East and Gulf region, as part of Hyperlink's plan to create internationally qualified IT human resource capital in Lebanon.

The RDC was established in late 2002, with the aim of reversing the brain drain afflicting Lebanon's human capital base. The new IT academy offers short-term, job-oriented courses of between three and six months. The academy provides free of charge specialised training in management and IT to a limited number of fresh graduates with assured job placements within the country and in projects carried out outside the country by Lebanese companies. Admission is open to bachelor's degree holders, as well as MBA and PhD holders.

"It is time that the Lebanese economy benefits from the talents of its young IT graduates, instead of losing them to companies outside the country. Our effort is to combine the global experience acquired by Hyperlink, with the enviable talent in Lebanese universities and create a job pool that has need-specific skills for the Lebanese IT sector. However, it would defeat the purpose, if this set of highly qualified professionals were to leave for attractive IT jobs outside the country. Our effort, therefore, is also to create an atmosphere conducive to the development of IT infrastructure within Lebanon, thus providing increasing scope of challenging employment for our professionals. To this intent, Hyperlink is not only tying up with companies in the country and Lebanese-managed international projects to ensure employment placements to successful graduates, but is also committed to absorbing a certain number of the RDC graduates into its own pool of highly skilled professionals", stated Hani Harik, Chief Executive Officer, Hyperlink.

The intensive training course on Oracle e-Business Suite of applications started on January 20, 2003. Twenty-one fresh trainees, some with limited work experience, were admitted to the course at the Resource Development Centre. They went through intensive training delivered by experienced consultants, with a teaching history, from both Oracle and Hyperlink. The training schedule was divided into modules for oracle architecture, system administration, multi-organisation, flex fields, workflow, alerts, Total Relationship Management (TRM) usage, Customer Relationship management (CRM) stream: foundation, oracle support, oracle services, install base, I-Support, field service, overview of accounts receivable, overview of inventory and overview of general ledger. At the end of the course, the trainees had to undergo a set of examinations on the subjects that they were trained for. The trainees that successfully graduated from the examinations were awarded Oracle certification through the Oracle Partner Network, the online certification network established by Oracle.

The examinations were held over four consecutive days from April 11 to April 14, 2003. Of the twenty-one trainees, eighteen were successful in the examination. All eighteen successful candidates were subsequently absorbed into the growing Hyperlink team of Oracle professionals to work on the company's projects across the Middle East and Gulf region.
