Minister of CIT witnesses closing ceremony of Egypt's first Olympiad in Informatics

Dr. Ahmed Nazif, Minister of Communications and Information Technology, and General Mohamed Abdel Salam Mahgoub, Governor of Alexandria, accompanied by Dr. Gamal Mokhtar Chairman of the Arab Academy for Science & Technology and Maritime Transport will witness the closing and award ceremony of Egypt's first Olympiad in Informatics, Thursday.
160 contestants are competing in the fields of programming and applications focusing on topics related to problem definition, problem analysis and selecting strategies. The Ministry and the Academy will award top participants, including children and special needs) with medals along with prizes that range from academic scholarships to IT training opportunities.
Every year, the IT Olympics will take place in a different governorate; this event is considered as introductory and preparatory for the Arab and World Olympics which take place annually as well.
The goal of the Egyptian Olympiad in Informatics is to encourage young talents to use and explore the world of IT; while working towards building a generation capable of innovation and masters modern skills. Training and selection for the Olympiads takes place in the Ministry's Information Technology Clubs located nationwide.
