Special processing counters and help desks have been set up at key locations in various airports, and the staff has been specially trained to welcome the participants to the Annual Meetings that will be held at the Dubai International Convention Centre (DICC) within a week's time.

Dubai 2003, which has organised the preparations to host the meetings and the participants, has provided special branding to the various airports in the country including help desks, banners, signage and directional information to be displayed for the ease and guidance of the visitors.

In addition, Dubai 2003 has laid down special procedures to facilitate the seamless processing of the participants on their arrival at the airports.

Dubai 2003 has trained about 200 staff, which will be located at various airports to meet and assist the participants. Over 80 per cent of them will be stationed at the Dubai International Airport, where the majority of the thousands of participants will arrive.

The staff has also been trained to answer any inquiries from visitors. The specially recruited and trained staff will work in three shifts 24-hours a day and seven days a week from now on.

The Annual Meetings of the Boards of Governors of the World Bank Group and the International Monetary Fund were first held in Washington DC in 1946. They are hosted by an international city one year in three. The UAE and Dubai were selected because of their highly developed transportation and logistics infrastructure, growing importance as a financial hub and its established position as an oasis of opportunity.
