Commenting on the Dubai International Motor Show Stefan Mecha, Managing Director, Volkswagen Middle East said: "Our aim this year was to present a range of Volkswagen models which demonstrate our innovative German technology and design. The Volkswagen brand is making great strides in the region and our new and revamped models, which were displayed, attracted immense interest throughout the show."

The new Scirocco R was the highlight of Volkswagen's presentation and was joined on the stand by Volkswagen's complete model line-up including the Golf R, the thrilling Polo R WRC (World Rally Championship) model and the new Amarok. In addition, Volkswagen also showcased the latest Touareg, Tiguan "Track & Field", "Sport & Style" and the all-new Jetta Trendline and Comfortline.

As well as presenting cars to the audience, Volkswagen Middle East also focused on Alternative Driving Systems including Hybrid and CNG technology and Think Blue, Volkswagen's sustainable and energy efficient solutions. These models and the Think Blue initiative were well received with many visitors showing interest, and requesting full tours of the specialist cars displayed to learn more about Volkswagen's cutting edge technology.

"We have enjoyed 28% growth in the GCC year-to-date compared to 2010, and we have outpaced the total market growth. This is mainly due to the number of new products that we have launched including the all-new Jetta, Tiguan and Touareg. 2012 will see the launch of a number of new models from our sedan category, including the Passat and the Polo Sedan. These models are part of our long-term strategy for the Middle East as we see great potential in this region," continued Mecha.

Volkswagen's stand which recorded the highest visitor numbers ever had an international team from its regional and German headquarters present to deal with interested customers and were supported by representatives from its Al Nabooda Automobiles dealership.

"During the show we collected customer feedback via iPad's, and have generated more than 2,500 leads so far. At Volkswagen Middle East we constantly update our social media channels, which have seen an increase in the number of fans on Facebook as well as followers on Twitter," added Mecha.
