There are three kinds of coins, gold and silver collectors' pieces and a one Dirham coin. The images on the gold and silver coins are identical, and the logo of Dubai 2003 is prominent on the one Dirham coin.

Ibrahim Belselah, General Coordinator, Dubai 2003, said, "The launching of coins to commemorate the Annual Meetings is an excellent initiative by the Central Bank of UAE, and we are proud that they have chosen such an important event to commemorate."

The face of the coin has the widely recognised and distinctive logo of Dubai 2003 as the focal point. At the top of the logo, there is an inscription in Arabic which reads 'Dubai 2003- United Arab Emirates', and the same words appear in English at the bottom of the logo. On the opposite face of the coin, there is a portrait of HH Sheikh Zayed Bin Sultan Al Nahyan, President of the UAE, which is the central point of the facia. There is, in Arabic, 'HH Sheikh Zayed Bin Sultan Al Nahyan' inscribed above the picture, and the same in English below the image. The design on both the gold and silver coins is the same.

Rashid Mohammed Al Fandi, Executive Director of the Banking Operations Department, Central Bank of UAE, said, "The collectors' edition coins will be available through teller windows at banks operating in the UAE. Each gold coin will be sold at the gold price on the day of sale plus the additional costs, estimated at AED60, while the silver coin will be sold at its face value plus the additional costs, estimated at AED60. The commemorative Dirham is legal tender and will be put in circulation as per the usual practice."
