- United Arab Emirates: Sunday, September 21 - 2003 at 10:57
- PRESS RELEASE
In 17 days, the Dubai 2003 website has had 1,073,227 hits from 110 countries and the highest number of hits seen per day has been 117,425.
The website is maintained in-house by Dubai 2003, thereby avoiding any delays in transmission of information. This ensures that the website is constantly up-to-date, and even delegates already in the country to attend the meetings would find information and links that are useful.
The Annual Meetings of the Boards of Governors of the World Bank Group and the International Monetary Fund were first held in Washington DC in 1946. They are hosted by an international city one year in three. The UAE and Dubai were selected because of their highly developed transportation and logistics infrastructure, growing importance as a financial hub and its established position as an oasis of opportunity.
